Today Bobby and I ate the Double Down “sandwich” (pictured above) combination from KFC, the chicken place for commissioned officers.

Daniel was there, but he ate only taco bell as he is vegetarian. Bobby submitted that since the Double Down is more novelty marketing piece than actual food item, it wouldn’t do any harm for Daniel to have an exploratory nibble. This reasoning did not persuade Daniel and he ate two bean burritos and a potato taco instead.

I will now take the opportunity to tell you about the “sandwich” called Double Down and our eating of it…

It was salty. I couldn’t taste the cheese and bacon for the chicken. It tastes mostly of chicken. Obvi. It has a paper prophylactic wrapper to guard your fingers from grease; less grease on you, more grease inside you. I had heard that the “sandwich” degrades as you eat it, but my personal experience was quite the contrary. The white cheese food hardens the longer it is exposed to open air giving the “sandwich” a sounder structural integrity towards its ultimate bite.

Look how much more handsome and attractive this sandwich makes Bobby (above) and I (below).

I said “I would eat it again.” Bobby said “I don’t think I would [eat it again].” The end.

Side note: Due to a mix up at the taco bell, Daniel ended up with a cheesy meatato burrito that Bobby and I split, literally, with a burrito perforating technique I devised on the spot. I will be happy to make further elucidation of that technique and experience if reader interest proves sufficient.

I graduated last night and I just realized I haven’t explicitly linked to Strip Mall Ethnography. It’s my master’s project and it’s about strip malls, my experience in them and the ways we engage spaces online. Check out the Process documentation to get an idea of what it’s all about. It’s still a little rough, but I hope to polish it up over the summer. Be warned, it suffers from extreme wonkiness in IE6. Blech. Enjoy and let me know if you have questions!

Also, I just successfully defended my master’s project, Strip Mall Ethnography. Check out the Process documentation to get an idea of what it’s all about. I am now a master of science, you have been warned. I apologize in advance if you’re attempting to view it in IE6. It just doesn’t work that way.

Cheerio!
